Betty (B.J.)'s Story
Life
Richard & I were married 40 years Feb 2002. We have one son and one grand daughter, age 6, who live in New Orleans. We are totally obsessed with her and let everyone know it every chance we get. We moved back to TX in '93 via El Paso, AZ, NC, OH, OK, IA, NM. We now reside in south Arlington. I've worked maybe a total of 25 yrs. in the 40 years of marriage. However, prior to coming back to Texas, fifteen yrs. were spent in academe as department chair secretary and then as dean's secretary. We are members of the First Presbyterian Church. Our plans are to retire to our little house at Cedar Creek in 2005. I love to read, travel, and be lazy. Being a grandmother has become my greatest joy, second only to being post menopausal.
UPDATED PROFILE
Well, a lot has happened since 2002. Richard and I have now been married 53 years this past February 1, 2015. We now have another grandchild, Matthew Joseph Poyner. Our son and his family: wife Charlene, daughter (19), and son Matthew (8). live in New Orleans. He is ...Expand for more
now a transfplanted New Orlean (if that's a word) and has even acquired a bit of the native accent. But since we love all of them including the in-laws, we have accepted it. He has even gone so far at to convert to Catholisim which is also fine with us. We, however, remain Calvaninst Presybertrian, converts of 30 years from the Church of Christ, so who are we to judge?
We retired from Arlington in July, 2005 to Tyler and have never regretted it. We sold the house in Arlington and the house at Cedar Creek and now live in a 55 plus gated community (next door to assisted living and around the corner from Hospice) so we are all set for what remains of our future. Thus far we have been blessed with good health and because of it we do a lot of traveling (car, RV, cruise and whatever strikes our fancy).
Wish I could share some really exciiting and non-conventional life experiences, but I have none. Richard and I are so very providentially blessed that it would be boring to expound upon.
